Planet Wild, Forever Forest and Agent Green secure the protection of Câmpușel Forest
Câmpușel Forest, one of the most valuable forest areas in Europe, benefits from an active protection system starting in 2026, developed in partnership by Forever Forest, Agent Green and the global Planet Wild community.
The initiative is part of an international mission dedicated to protecting Europe’s last intact forests - rare ecosystems under pressure from illegal logging and fragmentation.
From documentation to active protection
In recent years, the Câmpușel area has been at the centre of investigations and protection actions coordinated by Agent Green.
These forests are part of Europe’s last intact forest ecosystems, where biodiversity still functions at a real landscape scale.
Through the collaboration with Planet Wild, the project has moved to a new level: from exposing problems to implementing concrete protection solutions.
Technology and field presence
This mission has implemented:
- acoustic chainsaw-detection systems (BioT), capable of identifying illegal activity within a radius of up to 1 km
- continuous biodiversity monitoring through audio analysis and field data
- ranger patrols dedicated to protecting the forest
- long-term data collection and analysis
These systems make it possible to detect illegal interventions quickly and document the evidence needed for legal action.
Protecting a critical ecosystem
The mission targets the protection of 231.8 hectares of forest, part of a much larger forest landscape considered among Europe’s last intact areas.
These forests shelter exceptional biodiversity and play an essential role in:
- regulating the climate
- storing carbon
- maintaining hydrological balance
A new model of action
This collaboration marks an important shift: we are not only documenting forest destruction, but building real protection systems.
Planet Wild brings funding and an engaged global community, Agent Green brings field experience, and Forever Forest creates the framework through which these forests can be protected over the long term.
What comes next
The protection of Câmpușel Forest is only the beginning. The data collected, the systems implemented and the collaboration model will support the expansion of this type of protection to other forests.
Protecting forests is no longer only a fight. It is becoming a system.
